Copaiba Essential Oil VS CBD Oil
My Experience
We all may have experienced inflammation following a great deal of pain externally or internally at one time or another. My personal experience with Copaiba has been life changing for me. I have transmandibular joint disease (TMJ), which is the jaw bone, causing a cascade of issues. The TMJ specialist told me there is no more cartilage in my jaw, basically bone on bone. Not only do I get the joint pain but it causes the muscles in my face that are connected to my neck and upper back to seize up which is very painful. The soreness and the pain feels like I've been doing weight lifting over my head all day long none stop. It would be nothing for me to get excruciating migraines and extreme pain behind my eyes several times a week. I wouldn't have to be doing anything, just out of the blue it would be absolutely difficult to be able to turn my neck, lasting for several weeks. Due to our jaw bone being right up against our ears, the inflammation from my jaw would cause fluid build up in my ears leading to so many ear infections as well. The nerve pain is pretty constant that also at times effects the hearing. As the specialist was showing and teaching me on how so many things are connected right there at that point it's no wonder the domino effect. With that being said I would always have to wear a mouth guard makes it absolutely difficult to talk. Due to prior job positions of constantly on the phone was not a possibility so I can only wear it at night. Without being able to wear it when I'm supposed to my jaw gets out of alignment easily which causes the issues all over again. The other option was surgery which for me is not a path I want to go down. That's when I came across Copaiba Essential Oil. I was always hearing how war veterans were able to get off their long use of pain killers with Copaiba. I made up my own roller ball recipes to apply topically along my jaw line and on my shoulders and take 1-2 Copaiba soft gels internally daily. If one day the pain is really bad I'll take 3 softgels that day. Since I have been doing both on a regular and daily basis I feel that I can function again. It has been over 5 months now of not going through those debilitating migraines. If a flare up would come on I am still able to function and carry out my daily tasks.
TMJ Roller Blend
This is a blend I made up which is for sore muscles, dystrophy, arthritis, inflammation and pain that is why I concocted this blend from all my research and learning the different notes, personifier, enhancer, equalizer and modifier (harmony) for each individual oil. Also while in pain we tend to tense up and those anxiety feelings become overwhelming, each of these oils bring that harmony to our emotions.
In a 10 mL roller bottle combine oils
14 drops Frankincense - helps with arthritis, inflammation, and pain
10 drops Copaiba - helps with pain, inflammation, muscle aches
6 drops Rosemary - supports joints, muscle dystrophy, and pain
3 drops Lemongrass - also helps with dystrophy and pain
2 drops Deep blue oil - with the peppermint in this blend helps with arthritis, inflammation, joints, muscle, dystrophy and pain
2 drops Marjoram - helps with arthritis, and supporting muscles, dystrophy and pain
2 drops Lavender - reduces inflammation, supports muscle and reduces pain
1 drop Basil - good for earaches, healing, migraines, muscle spasm, and muscular dystrophy
I do allow the blend of oils to rest for a couple hours so they can conjoin better to be more effective before filling the rest with Fractionated Coconut Oil.
We, doTERRA, use four different species of Copaifera trees: Copaifera reticulata, C. officinalis, C. coriacea, and C. langsdorffii. All four of these trees are native to Central and South America. The Natives would utilize the Copaiba on their new born babies and worriers coming home from battle due to it's bioactive properties of calming, soothing, and supportive to the skin and nervous system. For centuries, South Americans have used copaiba resin to promote the health of the respiratory, digestive, urinary, cardiovascular, and immune systems. [i]

The resin from the Copaiba trees has traditionally been used for inflammation (internal and eternal), skin disorders, respiratory problems including bronchitis and sinusitis, and urinary tract problems including cystitis and bladder/kidney infections. It has also been used for bleeding, gonorrhea, hemorrhages, herpes, incontinence, insect bites, pain, pleurisy, sore throats, stomach ulcers, syphilis, tetanus, tonsillitis, tuberculosis, and tumors. Chemical Constituents
Copaiba's main chemical constituents are
Sesquiterpenes 90%
These compounds are known for their calming properties and they also can be supportive to the immune system in protecting us from harmful microbes, acting as antioxidants, and assisting in cellular repair. Studies have shown this chemical compound is an anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer. [iii]
Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP) 52%
Many studies have shown that the treatment with β-caryophyllene improves inflammatory pathologies such as nervous system diseases (Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, stroke), atherosclerosis, and tumors (colon, breast, pancreas, lymphoma, melanoma and glioma cancer). Furthermore, pre-clinical data have highlighted that BCP is potentially useful in Streptococcus infections, osteoporosis, steatohepatitis, and exerts anticonvulsant, analgesic, myorelaxing, sedative, and antidepressive effects. Copaiba vs CBD
A Discussion with Dr. Hill and Dr. Osguthorpe
Benefits of Copaiba
CBD Oil
Extract not an oil
Comes from Hemp not very regulated
In everything from mascara to doggy treats and everything in between
Has THC in the CBD oil
Interacts with CB1 & CB2 receptors
Stimulates psychoactive in the brain
Interacts with the brain then to the pain receptors
Isolated, indirect, inconsistent, regulatory challenge
The amount needed to make an impact is a bottle and a half
There are currently dozens, if not hundreds, of producers and sellers of CBD oils active in the market, and their number is increasing rapidly. Many uncertainties remain about the legality, quality, and safety of this new “miracle cure.”[v]
Studies have noted side effects
CBD products are not subject to drug regulatory standards leading to inconsistency in manufacturing practices and quality of products. Here are concerns found in CBD oil are contaminants including heavy metals, pesticides, microbes and mycotoxins, as well as added THC. Poses a potential risk to metabolism via the enzyme pathways. Studies are showing long life risks. Research remains preclinical.[ix]
Copaiba Oil
CPTG = Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade
Much more effective than CBD oil
Very versatile
Direct binding to endocannabinoid system receptors
Requires small dosage amount for greater results
BCP directly binds to the pain receptors, reduces inflammation, anxiety and supports healthy sleeping
Copaiba trees lives for 400 years and grow to over 100 ft tall
Having the resign pulled helps keep the tree healthy
The pathways support cell growth, rejuvenation, metabolic health and antioxidants
1 drop of Copaiba = 45MG of BCP
Only 5MG of Copaiba is needed to reduce pain for a healthy inflammatory response where as 25MGs of CBD oil is needed to potentially have the same results
50MGs of Copaiba which is 1 drop improves mood and shows healthy levels glycoprotein in the blood where as 200MG of CBD oil is need to potentially have the same results
100 MGs of Copaiba which is 2 drops or 1 softgel impacts all systems such as the liver, cardio, immune, digestive system, nero system and respiratory system. Where as as Dr. Hill indicated would have to consume 1 bottle and a half of CBD oil to get similar results.
Experimental research suggests that when taken internally, Copaiba has strong antioxidant properties and may support the healthy function of several different body systems. While most people are still using it topically to address acute issues, due to its wide spectrum of evidence-based health-supporting benefits when used internally, you may consider adding it to your regular dietary supplement regimen by taking two softgels daily (one with a morning meal and one with an evening meal) to support overall long-term well-being.
