Natural Skin Care Tips
This was always a challenge for me, knowing what to do to take care of my skin and taking the time to care for my skin. Of course when we are younger we don't think about that either, other than when blemishes occur. Taking care of my skin as a whole, probably didn't cross my mind until my husband and I moved to a much dryer and colder climate, than what I'm used to. That is when I started seeing a big difference. If you are like me making or changing a habit takes some time to get used to. I have never been one to put lotion on daily let alone on my hands. The extent of my skin care was washing the face in the evening and that was good enough.
This is my new challenge for myself. What I love about doTERRA is that they have a wonderful line of all Natural Skin Care. Takes so much of the guess work out of caring for your skin and much more. That's more than half the battle right there. To care for our skin is to start on the inside, which believe it or not covers 80% of our skin issues is on the inside and 20% is done on the outside. The other part is, we always hear and know, keep hydrated drink half of your weight in oz of water daily. What helps for me is adding a citrus oil (ex lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, wild orange) in my water to give it flavor and also is a natural and gentle detox as well.
One of the things I have truly enjoyed these past several years that I do love to do for my skin, is sugar scrub. I have been making my own sugar scrub that I use to exfoliate the old dry, dead skin while I shower. I'm not one to think of putting lotion on continuously so this is a simple thing to do to keep the moisture in and purifying the skin naturally at the same time. For me it was a win win. I'll list that recipe below in the DIY section.
The integumentary system consists of the hair, skin, nails, and exocrine glands. Your skin protects you from harmful elements in the environment, and it can be adversely affected by toxins, artificial fragrances, pollution, and other irritants. When you treat your skin, hair, and nails right, they appear healthier, smoother, and more beautiful. To keep yourself clean and healthy, you can use essential oils such as Melaleuca, and cleanse it regularly with doTERRA On Guard® Foaming Hand Soap and natural skin and hair care products from doTERRA.

The skin is the biggest organ of the body, and the main part of the integumentary system. This body system provides a protective barrier to the outside world, cushions the internal organs, gives you your sense of touch, and regulates body temperature. The skin serves as a waterproof barrier that prevents all types of unwanted threats from entering your body. The skin also protects tissues and organs from strong sunlight and injury from substances in the environment. The skin contains blood vessels, hair follicles, lymph vessels, and sweat glands. An intricate system of nerves link the skin to the brain, providing information about the environment. The skin can sense temperature changes, pain, pressure, or touch. When sensory messages are received by these nerves, they are sent to the brain.
Many factors contribute to the health of the skin, hair, and nails, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, hormonal balance, and overall health. In general, when the body is healthy internally, this shows externally by having beautiful hair, smooth nails, and glowing skin. Daily supplementation with doTERRA Lifelong Vitality Pack® can support the integumentary system and promote healthy hair, skin, and nails. It is important to cleanse and moisturize regularly with products suited to your needs. On Guard® Foaming Hand Wash is a gentle, healthy alternative to harsh soaps that may dry and irritate sensitive skin. When you don’t have water handy, reach for doTERRA On Guard® Sanitizing Mist, which purifies hands by eliminating bacteria and other germs.
Essential oils can be beneficial in cleansing and beautifying hair, skin, and nails. To minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, apply Immortelle Anti-Aging Blend, Rose Touch, Geranium, Frankincense, or Anti-Aging Eye Cream. HD Clear® can be applied topically to promote a clear complexion and reduce breakouts. Correct-X® Essential Ointment helps keep skin clean while recovering from distress. Keep hair clean and healthy with the doTERRA Salon Essentials® Hair Care system. Each product is infused with essential oils specifically chosen for their nourishing and beautifying benefits on the hair and scalp. You can encourage the appearance of full, healthy hair with Eucalyptus, Thyme, Melaleuca, Cedarwood, Rosemary, or Ylang Ylang.
Take action to keep yourself smooth, hydrated, and healthy. Hydration starts on the inside. For soft, glowing skin on the outside, you need to focus on hydration. The easiest way to do this is to drink more water! Yes, we hear this all the time, but it always seems easier said than done, doesn’t it? If you struggle with drinking enough water, start small. For example, consider swapping out soda or sugary drinks for water. If you can’t cut them out completely, make a rule that you’ll always drink a glass of water before turning to the sweet stuff. If you want a little extra flavor in your water, try adding a few drops of Grapefruit, Lemon, or Lime essential oil in a pitcher or bottle. Another easy idea is using a straw. If you’re drinking through a straw, you’re likely to drink faster and will end up drinking more water throughout the day. Help the environment and step up your hydration by investing in a stainless-steel straw.
It’s best to treat yourself to natural products that won’t irritate your skin any further. Start your day by spritzing dōTERRA® Spa Hydrating Mist with Beautiful Blend on your skin before you get dressed. It’ll help improve the overall appearance of your skin. Or, if you’re spending the day at the beach or walking along a favorite hiking trail, don’t forget to pack dōTERRA Spa Lip Balm to keep your lips hydrated and soft. The Hydrating Body Mist formula includes osmanthus oil, derived from the osmanthus flower that’s native to China. The sweet scent of the osmanthus flower is reminiscent of lilac blossoms or fresh apricots
