Shimmer 💖 Lotion Bars
This was a really fun DIY project that I truly enjoyed. For me I never have heard of lotion bars before until now and I absolutely love it. This was also an inexpensive gift for a stocking stuffer as well. To whom you gift them to they will know it's made with love 💕. Anything handmade, for me, I appreciate the thought and all the effort that went into it so much more.
Here is how I made my shimmer lotion bars. I used Better Shea Butter brand of Kokum butter, beeswax, jojoba oil. Then you'll need Gold mica. I purchased from Amazon. Essential oil of your choice which I used doTERRA Passion also known as inspiration blend, for this recipe. I love the smell of passion, even for a personal fragrance. Not only does it help promote inspiration throughout the day for projects your working on and so forth, it has a grounding, earthy and floral aroma. You will also need a silicone mold, I had bought mine also from Amazon.
Here is the ingredients and measurements, which you'll need a kitchen scale for.
125 Grams Kokum butter
12 Grams Beeswax
9 Grams Jojoba oil
3 Grams Essential Oil (around 45 drops)
4.7 Grams of Gold Mica (slightly more than 1 TBS)
Place the Kokum butter, beeswax and Jojoba oil in a heat proof container over a pan of few inches of water. Heat everything slowly until completely melted. Stir to help the beeswax melt faster.
Once all melted take the bowl off the pan and let cool slightly, stir occasionally until the consistency resembles honey. Then add your essential oils or blends of your choice. Here I added 45 drops of doTERRA Passion.
Now you can add the Gold Mica powder, little bit at a time as you stir. Keep stirring until the gold mica is everywhere.
Use a silicone mold of choice and place in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours until they have solidified.
This batch made 21 of the little lotion bars. They came out of the molds so nicely. You can get little tins from Aromatools to store them in your purse so they don't get smashed. Once applied to the skin melts slightly to provide that moisture.
